Grünwalder Gesundheitsprodukte GmbH - a short history
The company came into existence in 1999 and took over the products of the company Grünwalder Arzneimittel GmbH.
These products involved laxatives for which the basic recipe was developed over 35 years ago by the company founder, Werner Folkerts, in Grünwald. This amounted to a combination of herbs involving 7 elements, which is, or was, able to combine a reliable but not too drastic effect with ingredients which controlled the resulting flatulence. The (film coated) tablets were also small and easy to swallow.
The product range underwent a smooth transfer to its current new management in 1999. The goal of the new owner is to combine the traditions of phytotherapy with modern principles of drug development and discovery. The company name indicates which direction the future should take, with the emphasis on responsibility for personal health instead of medicines and curing diseases.
To this end, the product palette in Germany has already taken shape and now includes other products alongside laxatives: Sennalax®, a registered drug product on the basis of a standardised extract, a product with trace elements and Zintona®, a herbal product containing ginger, for preventing travel sickness.
To be even better prepared for future tasks and challenges, Grünwalder was certified in 2006 according to different quality requirements and standards:
DIN EN ISO 9001 (quality assurance system)
DIN EN ISO 13485 (production of medical devices) and
cGMP via a production license by the relevant local state authority (Regierung von Oberbayern) for release of medicinal products.
